Mental Health Awareness Month 2019 is just around the corner. Celebrated in May each year, its goal is to make people aware of the importance of mental health treatment. Learn more about national mental health awareness month and how you can become involved.
What is Mental Health Awareness Month 2019?
Mental Health America (MHA) organized the first national mental health awareness month back in 1949. The goal is and always has been to make people aware of how mental illnesses affect people. And by making people aware, they also hope to eliminate some of the negative stigma associated with these conditions.
Mental illness and suicide often go hand in hand. Accordingly, MHA hopes to prevent suicides through their outreach as well. They encourage those who struggle with mental illness to seek the psychological counseling services Tennessee offers.
Events and Happenings
As a result of Mental Health Awareness Month 2019, organizations across the country will conduct activities to educate and inform the public. Scheduled for May 9, one such event is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day.
The focus for this year’s event also revolves around animal companionship and work-life balance, among other things. So you can expect activities that focus more on these subjects in particular.
How We’re Involved
At Encore Health Group, we aim to provide awareness about mental health issues all the time. However, we dedicate ourselves to the idea of that even more during national mental health awareness month. We especially want to encourage those struggling with anxiety, depression, or any other disorder to seek treatment.
You should not have to feel ashamed or embarrassed because you suffer from a mental health disorder. You should also not put off treatment because you fear a diagnosis. Discuss your concerns with us instead so that we can put you on the right course of treatment.
